Ayla's POV (Point of View)
"We have a new student joining us," Mrs. Bartlemen spoke as I stood awkwardly at her side. Colt was sitting in the back, leaning back against the wall. He was staring at me, and I couldn't help but smile. I like it here, everyone is so nice, I thought.
"Please welcome, Ayla," She smiled at me and gestured for me to sit down. There was an empty seat in the back near Colt.
"Hey," He said as I sat down beside him. He didn't look to happy, I was about to ask why but he was already paying attention to Mrs. Bartlemen's history lesson.
I furrowed my eyebrows, wondering what was wrong. I don't think I did anything, I thought.
"Jeffrey?" The teacher asked as she pointed at the board. "Who was Charles II?" She asked.
"Easy. He was a tyrant like James I, Charles I, and James II, who was also his son. He attempted to lead Britain," Colt said with a smirk.
I couldn't help feeling slightly impressed. "Very good," The teacher praised and went back on to her lecture on tyrants and the difference between the leader's of England and the leader's of France.
"Have you ever learned about Canada?" I asked Colt. It was a simple question, being I was from Canada.
"Yeah, of course," Colt hissed.
I looked at him, clearly taken aback. "Jeff, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings or anything," I whispered.
"My name's not Jeff it's Colt," He whirled around to fully face me. He had said it a little louder then he meant too.
"Jeffrey! Ayla! Are you two finished?" Mrs. Bartlemen whipped around to face both of us.
"Yes, I believe so!" I snapped and ran out of the class, trying to force the tears not to fall. I didn't even look back to see what Colt looked like. He was probably angry, not feeling bad at all that he had hurt me.
As I ran in the hallways I nearly ran into Tum Tum. I could feel my eyes. They were watery and threatening to fall.
"Ayla!" He smiled but his smile turned into a frown when he saw that I was upset. "What's wrong?" He asked.
"It's Colt. He's being such a jerk!" I said. The tears began to slowly fall, sliding down my cheek. Being in a new place was already hard enough, I didn't need people being mad at me either.
"Don't blame him. He's always moody, he'll come around soon enough," Tum Tum promised.
"Ayla!" I heard my voice being called. I hid in a doorway, not wanting to know who it was. Especially, if it was Colt. Tum Tum remained in the hallway until a head poked around the corner. It was Rocky. "Ayla, are you alright? I heard from Nancy Blake, what happened."
"News travel's fast," I muttered and slid down the wall, sitting on the floor. My legs were pulled to my chest.
"I'm sorry you're having a miserable first day," Rocky said as he sat down beside me. Tum Tum took this as a que to leave.
"It's not your fault," I whispered and soon my tears were being wiped away by Rocky. He was looking at me. "Are you really alright?" He asked.
I nodded. "I just never expected him to act like that to me," I admitted as I looked back at him.
"Well, do you want to talk about it?" Rocky asked. I shook my head no and he chuckled.
"What do you want to talk about?" I responded with a shrug. He stayed silent for a moment before asking, "What was it like? At you're old home?" He asked.
Ayla laughed and smiled. "I loved it there. All my friends. And my school! I played soccer and baseball on the school teams," I said.
"Really? Colt, Tum Tum, and I play baseball!" Rocky exclaimed.
"That's awesome! Maybe I can join you're team!" I said. Although I knew it wouldn't be possible, it was probably an all boys team.
Rocky laughed again and smiled. He was nice. A lot nicer then Colt, and we had gotten along well on our way to school. Talking about our interests and I had learned that he liked reading as well as myself. We even liked the same type of books.
Rocky stood up and held out his hand, a gesture for helping me up. I smiled shyly and took his hand. I was never the social type in school but this was a new place. A new beginning. He helped me up and I felt his arms wrap around me. I felt my heart skip a beat and my arms wrapping around his neck. "Thanks for being a great friend," I whispered to him.

Chapter 5: Envy
Colt's POV (Point of View)
"But Mom!" I protested.
"No, buts!" Mom said and looked at Rocky, Tum Tum, and I. She had the look off disappointment and worry.
After we ate our pizzas Ayla's mother had offered us a ride home in a cab. The cab driver heard about how we kicked the three robber's butts and agreed to put our bikes in the trunk. When we got home Mom had heard on the television. We didn't notice the reporter making her report outside of the pizza parlor. Mom had been frightened for us. We weren't allowed to practice ninja anymore, atleast not in public. Although she was glad we had saved Ayla's life she was still upset that we were also the ones to put her life in jeopardy.
I was about to protest again when Rocky pulled me away by my arm. Him and Tum Tum were already advancing up the stairs towards our bedroom.
"She can't do this!" I persisted and Rocky shook his head. "Not now Colt."
We entered our bedroom and I climbed onto my top bunk, not even bothering to use the trampoline I always loved to use to leap onto my bed. Tum Tum headed for his video games.
Rocky, being the stuck-up person he is, went to ignoring Tum Tum and I. Instead he listened to his iPod. I didn't know what kind of music it was, but it was probably the kind with orchestra's and stuff. Classical. I rolled my eyes and looked at the ceiling. Tum Tum seemed so into his video game.
"Die! Die!" He yelled as he jumped on the Goomba mushrooms as he played Super Mario Bros. I chuckled and rolled over too look at Rocky.
"You don't really like her Rock, do you?" I asked quietly. Rocky must've heard me, he looked up at me and narrowed his eyes.
"Why?" He asked. "I thought we had this..." He looked in the direction of our little brother. "Discussion earlier."
I rolled my eyes. Why is he being so difficult! I know he does! I thought bitterly and sighed with annoyance. "Well, do you?"
Rocky shrugged. "I don't know. We barely know her, remember?" He shot at me and I was surprised. He was absolutely right. We didn't know anything about Ayla!
I rolled over onto my side, facing the wall. "Well that's going to change by tomorrow," I muttered quietly. I was right. Tomorrow was Monday. The first day of school for the week. I sighed, wondering if it would be a long week, then I remembered Ayla. Her soft brown eyes and her warming smile. I clenched my eyes. No, Colt! I told myself. You don't like her. Not at all. She's just a girl. ....A girl who is beautiful and very friendly.
"Wake up, Colt!" I felt myself being shaken.
"What?" I grumbled and shifted onto my side. I opened my eyes to see Tum Tum looking up at my with innocent brown eyes. "School!" He said.
I sighed and swung my feet off of my bed. I hadn't meant to fall asleep but it had been a long day. "What time is it?" I asked as I rubbed my tired eyes. I had woken up at five in the morning everyday for a week at Grandpa's, why was it hard now?
"Six forty-five," Rocky said as he entered the room. He was already dressed and his shaggy brown hair seemed oddly perfect today. Trying to impress a certain girl?
I leaped off the bed and searched through my drawer. I soon pulled out a white t-shirt, the words 'Sarcastic but Real' printed in black on the front. Tum Tum had gotten it for me for my birthday. I also grabbed a pair of dark blue jeans and a pair of Nike shoes. As soon as I had my clothes I disappeared into the bathroom and came out five minutes later. Fully clothed and my teeth flossed and brushed.
"Can I have some too?" I heard Tum Tum ask someone. I made my way downstairs and found Rocky sitting at the table, reading a book and Tum Tum begging my mom for another egg. She gave in and placed the egg on his plate. He scarfed it down in a matter of seconds. "Ready?" I asked Rocky and he nodded. Tum Tum hopped off the stool and grabbed his bag.
"You're lunches are all in your bags," my mother said and handed Rocky and myself ours. "Let's go!" I grinned and we ran outside, getting our bikes and riding to school. As soon as we were just about to turn the corner we heard a familiar voice. "Wait!" It said.
We turned around and saw Ayla riding her bike towards us, her purse swinging awkwardly as she rode. Her binder on her handlebars. She was attempting to balance it. "Thanks," Ayla smiled, shooting one of us her prize winning smile.
"No problem!" Tum Tum smiled. "Are you really going to balance you're binder on the handlebars though?" He asked.
Ayla looked at him. "I guess," She laughed.
"I can put it in my backpack," Rocky and I said together and looked at each other.
"Sure," Ayla smiled. "Thanks!" She got off her bike. Rocky hopped off of his before mine and zipped open the backpack. Ayla gratefully placed it in and hopped back on her bike.
"Ready?" I said sharply while Rocky got on his bike. Ayla nodded, finding nothing wrong and Tum Tum started for the road once again.
Rocky and Ayla advanced and I biked near the end, feeling a little envy as Ayla and Rocky began to talk.
"But Mom!" I protested.
